1998 grand prix 3.8L. Sitting at the stop sign and it will die and
when you take off from the stop sign it will also die.

Answer:
There are several reasons for this code. You may have a blown
fuse(s), a bad A.I.R. Pump, or a sticking diverter valve. Be sure
to check all the fuses in the underhood fuse box. If any are
blown, the pump may be faulty and blew a fuse. Sometimes they
will even burn the wiring harness for the pump.
If this is not the case, a diverter valve may be sticking and not
allowing the pump air flow to enter the exhaust to clean it up.
2002 Grand Prix GT 3800 6 cylinder. Diagnostics
done at GM dealership. Bought new battery.
Question = My car will sometimes die on the first
startup and then crank on the second try. The rpm
gauge will jump to about 1500 rpm's, then drop to
zero and then level off at about 900 rpm's. It has
also started to die when you put it in park and it has
died when you turn the air conditioner off.

We took it and had a diagnostics ran but they could
not find anything. We also have the abs and trac
light on and we had that repaired about a year ago
or so we thought. We recently moved to Texas from
South Dakota also and I know heat can cause more
problems. So that is my question.
What causes this?

Answer:
Couple of things i would suggest. Clean the throttle
body bore, plate, idle air control valve(IAC) and its
bore. If these things have carbon on/in them, it will
cause the problems you describe. A leaking fuel
pressure regulator can also cause this. When they
leak, fuel enters its vacuum hose, and can also
cause these problems. Let me know what you find.
